Baton Rouge Community College Automotive Training Center
The BRCC Automotive Training Center (recently renamed THE McKAY AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY CENTER AT BRCC) is n 82,000 sq. ft. facility that anchors the corner of the Lobdell Boulevard and the new Ardendale Entrance. The $14.5 million facility houses 4 automotive labs, 2 diesel labs, along with a transmission and hydraulics lab. It has 7 classrooms for automotive training and general purpose education functions. The Auto Training Center also has a multipurpose room for displaying cars that students have mechanically altered and a 100 seat auditorium for students and weekend continuing education classes. The Auto Training Center became the first building in the new Ardendale Development and BCB coordinated new utilities for the facility with developers of the overall Ardendale infrastructure package. BCB Architects has extensive knowledge of the underground utilities, site drainage, and overall concept for this new development. One of the design challenges was to create a meaningful, well designed entrance facing the new development while still allowing garage doors in the rear parking area for Auto Training. The building was completed in August 2016 and is the flagship of the Ardendale Development.
